These two readings from scripture speak to the work that Jesus was doing in is earthly ministry.  In both cases they exhibit the realization of the Vision of God's kingdom proclaimed by the prophet Isaiah ushered in and through the life and ministry of the Christ.  This, too, is our work in the world as the Body of Christ.  This work is categorized by healing, wholemaking, restoration to community and liberation all done under the banner of God's unconditional love.  This is the work of the Church and why we seek to carry out the Great Commission in the world making disciples of Jesus Christ, baptizing people in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to do the Church's ministry.
